Fairhope We Agnostics now a group

The Fairhope We Agnostics group has been meeting now for over a month and everything has been going great. Attendance has been more than expected and have had some really great people show up, which has lead to some great meetings.

On Thursday, February 28th, we had our first business meeting, and decided to become a group. We held elections and are now part of District 23. Becoming a group allows our voice to be heard at the district and area level. Our GSR has already attended a district meeting and will be attending area later in the month.

I would like to thank everyone who has supported us as we have started this group. Also I would like to add, almost every meeting we have had, someone has attended who would not have come to a meeting if it had not been a meeting for agnostics/atheists/freethinkers. I know for me, and others, this had made this whole experience worthwhile and was one of the primary purposes of starting this meeting in the first place.

Fairhope We Agnostics

The Fairhope We Agnostics meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous meets every Thursday at 6:30 PM at the Fairhope Unitarian Fellowship in Fairhope, Alabama.

1150 Fairhope Ave, Fairhope, AL  36532

First Meeting

I am happy to announce the first meeting of Fairhope We Agnostics. The meeting will be Thursday January 26, 2017 at 6:30 PM at the Fairhope Unitarian Fellowship. Please view the Home Page for location information.

The meeting is an open meeting so anyone interested in attending is welcome, especially if you have never been to an agnostic/atheist/freethinker meeting. I assure you this is very much an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting, using the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions, just with changes in format and subject matter to suit the theme of the meeting. Anyone who has attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting should find this meeting familiar.

I am happy to have been a part of the creation of this meeting, as I feel it fills a void and opens up Alcoholics Anonymous to a group of people who may have never been willing to give it a chance because of their beliefs. Although the planning of this meeting has primarily been done by a close friend and I, among minor input from others, hopefully many more will get involved once meetings start.

Hopefully I will see you at the first meeting, or any of the Thursdays there after.

-Will P.
